Supported Browsers, Devices and System Requirements
Last updated: September 20, 2026
These requirements describe the recommended environment for the SYMRAX Payroll & Timesheet web application. "Supported" means key application functions are intended to operate on the listed current browser/platform combinations. Unless a separate test certification is stated in a Client agreement, SYMRAX does not describe a configuration as formally certified.
Supported desktop browsers
- Microsoft Edge (Chromium): latest stable version on Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Google Chrome: latest stable version on Windows 10/11 and current supported macOS releases.
- Mozilla Firefox: latest stable version on Windows 10/11 and current supported macOS releases.
- Apple Safari: Safari 17.3 or later on supported macOS releases.
For best security, compatibility and rendering, keep the browser and operating system updated. Older versions may continue to function but can experience display, authentication, printing or JavaScript compatibility problems.
Mobile, tablet and touch
Employee Self Service and responsive web pages are designed to operate on current mobile/tablet browsers where the screen and browser support the required features. Touch input is supported for normal web use. The dedicated SYMRAX ESP32-S3 hardware time-clock kiosk uses its own supported firmware/hardware profile and is not equivalent to a general-purpose web browser.
Cookies, JavaScript and network access
- JavaScript must be enabled.
- Session cookies must be allowed for secure sign-in, tenant/company context and CSRF protection.
- HTTPS traffic over TCP port 443 must be allowed through the user's firewall/proxy.
- Security/privacy extensions must not block required first-party scripts, cookies or API calls.
- If a report, PDF, CSV or Excel export opens in a new browser context, allow the download/open action for the SYMRAX site.
Screen size
A desktop resolution of at least 1280 × 800 is recommended for the classic payroll administration interface. Smaller screens remain usable through responsive layouts and horizontal scrolling where needed. Employee Self Service is optimized for narrower layouts as well.
PDF and spreadsheet output
PDF reports require a current PDF viewer. Excel exports use standard spreadsheet file formats intended for current Microsoft Excel and compatible spreadsheet applications.
Minimum network guidance
Performance depends on device speed, browser extensions, network latency, internet provider, VPN/firewall inspection and available bandwidth. A stable broadband connection is recommended. Payroll pages, document generation and large reports may require more bandwidth than ordinary navigation. Clearing stale browser cache can help resolve rendering issues after an application upgrade.
Security and authentication
Multi-factor authentication, SMS/email delivery, payment gateways and connected services require access to the relevant external provider endpoints. Organizations using restrictive outbound firewalls should allow the domains and HTTPS connections required by their configured providers.
Unsupported or degraded environments
Obsolete browsers, browsers with JavaScript disabled, unsupported embedded webviews, extreme content blockers, modified TLS interception, or systems that cannot establish modern HTTPS connections may not work correctly. Contact your organization administrator if the application behaves differently across devices.
